Prophet David (AS): The Prophet to Whom God Granted Kingdom and Wisdom
Prophet David (AS) is one of the prophets of the Children of Israel, the father of Prophet Solomon (AS), and the fourteenth generation descendant of Prophet Abraham (AS). He is praised and described in several verses of the Quran. His divine scripture is called the **Zabur (Psalms)**, which contains praises and glorification of God, supplications, advice, and moral teachings. One of the most notable events in his life was the slaying of Goliath (Jalut) while he was in the army of Talut (Saul).

After the death of Talut, Prophet David took over the leadership of the Children of Israel.
The name "Dawud" or "David" means "beloved." Prophet David (AS) lived around **972 BC**. He was born in a region between Egypt and the Levant and worked as a shepherd in his childhood. He was a descendant of Prophet Jacob (AS).
The name of Prophet David is mentioned **sixteen times** in the Quran. God granted him **kingdom and wisdom** and taught him whatever He willed. Additionally, the mountains and birds would join him in glorifying God.
