A protestor holding a sign at the ‘Rally to Restore Sanity’ on October 30, 2010. Despite this photograph looking very old, it was only taken back in 2010 - which some people picked up on due to the unidentified person at the bottom left corner of the image wearing a Guy Fawkes mask. -

The ‘Rally to Restore Sanity’ was held at National Mall in Washington D.C and was created by the host of the satirical news program ‘The Daily Show’, Jon Stewart. The rally was incredibly successful with allegedly over 215,000 people attending.
The purpose of the rally was to combine the concepts of restoring sanity and keeping fear alive by providing a venue for attendees to become vocal about their views on American politics at the time. The argument that Stewart made was that these two concepts cancel each other out and to return to sanity would be the most reasonable solution.
