Kate Winslet was born on October 5, 1975, in Reading, England. Winslet made her first acting appearance at the age of 7 in a cereal commercial. In 1988, she appeared on the TV series “Shrinks.” She then appeared in several stage productions, and, in 1994, she appeared in her first film, “Heavenly Creatures.”

The next year, she appeared in “Sense and Sensibility,” which gained her a considerable amount of recognition as she was nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actress. She then appeared in a couple of other films, but it was not until her role in “Titanic” (1997) that she gained international fame. Her performance in the film earned her even more recognition as she was nominated for best actress that year.

Winslet went on to appear in many more films and receive more award nominations, but it was not until 2008 that she finally received her first Academy Award win for her role in the film “The Reader.” And, in 2011, she earned both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her role in the miniseries “Mildred Pierce.”

Today, Winslet is still appearing in films. In 2014 she appeared in “Divergent,” and then its sequel “Insurgent” in 2015. Also, in 2015, she appeared in the film “Steve Jobs” and won yet another Golden Globe.
