In 1890, Congress created the Yosemite National Park, which is home of the famous giant sequoia trees and Half Dome. Several people, including John Muir, campaigned for the creation of the National Park. It was eventually signed into law by President Benjamin Harrison.

The above photo was taken at Yosemite Falls in 1902 by Underwood & Underwood. At the time, Underwood and Underwood was the largest publisher of stereoviews in the world. They also had a staff of full-time photographers, one of which took the above photo.

Yosemite Falls is a series of snow-fed waterfalls located in Yosemite National Park in east-central California. The upper fall drops roughly 1,430 (436 metres) with a cumulative drop—when adding the drop of all the cascades—being 2,425 feet (740 metres).

In fact, Yosemite Falls is the highest cataract in North America, and it is also one of the highest in the world. Yosemite National Park covers an enormous 1,169 square miles and is one of the largest National Parks in the U.S.
