Hundreds of New Jersey residents take a stroll on The Jersey Shore boardwalk in 1905. During the early 20th century, both men and women wore garments that followed closely with 1890s elegant lines of fashion. The outfits were worn everywhere, even to the beach (pictured) — despite the sweltering temperatures that may have been present at any given time.

The Jersey Shore is the coastal region of New Jersey, which encompasses more than 140 miles of oceanfront that borders around the Atlantic Ocean. The Shore is well-known for its boardwalks, arcades, amusement parks and water parks which make it popular to many residents that live close by, and to tourists visiting the area. Due to the geographical region, the sunrise and sunset are visible from different peaks of the Jersey Shore.

There are 40 towns and communities that line the Jersey Shore, which mainly caters to tourists that visit during the summer. During 2012, the devastating Hurricane Sandy demolished much of the northern parts of the region, making it a duty for the communities to rebuild their homes and town centers.
